Subject: Question about remote start & 555l
Date Posted: October 25, 2005 at 9:19 PM
2002 Impala 9C1
installed remote start.
Car turns on, but the engine does not even turn over.
Have not installed 555L.
Wanted to get some kind of acknowledgement that the remote start is installed correctly before installing the 555L.
Question:
Shouldn't the engine at least attempt to start before the 555L is installed?

Passlock has not been disconnected.
I'm aware of the wires and color codes.
Engine starts with the key but not the remote start.
Should't the engine at least turn over before the 555L is installed, using the remote start?

If you DO NOT have the 555L connected, ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK....... 555L is a PassLock ------------- MO

The 555L is a passlock bypass.
I didn't ask if it would CRANK.
I asked, shouldn't the engine at least turn over, as in attempting to crank.
If you don't know, let someone else answer.

Here's what you do... Install the lower metal brace, There are four - 7mm screws and four - 10mm bolts. Then put on the lower dash cover and install the two 7mm screws and the bottom cover with the push clips(s). The drive the car to the local install shop and have the starter removed and installed properly. -------------

installed remote start.
Car turns on, as if to crank, using the remote start, but the engine does not turn over.
Have not installed 555L.

It will start with the key.
Question:
Shouldn't the engine at least attempt to start (turn over), with the remote start, before the 555L is installed?

ncso911.... you seem to be getting wrapped up in the nomenclature...... "turning over" = "crank" = "start" as you have been told repeatedly already... the engine will not attempt to crank nor turn over nor attempt to start when using the RS until you hook up the 555L passlock bypass .... the vehicle sends a code during the initialization of the crank sequence and if the BCM does not see this code and verify it the vehicle will not attempt to ..... well, you get the idea (god, i hope so) ------------- Kevin Gerry
