Subject: Unlock quit working?

I need a little help figuring out what changed. I installed my DEI 791 in my '01 F-150. The system works fine other than the unlock quit working with the disarm feature. The doors unlock when the engine is shut off and doors lock when the system is armed but when I use the remote to disarm the system the doors do not unlock as before? Any recomendations?

You may have to get the brain swapped out for a new one.

The strange thing is the locks did not work this morning but after a short drive the system worked and the doors unlocked when the alarm was disarmed. I left it in the drive for about 2 hours and the locks again did not unlock, What gives?

have you looked over all your connections? if everything checks out . you may have an intermittin problem in the brain like alpine guy has said. double check all connection. this is a symptom of both problems that i've suggested.

Your locks are falling asleep. If you look in the owners manual for the truck it will tell you how to turn that feature off. It involves hitting the lock/unlock button in a certain sequence.

To test to make sure this is the problem:
Roll down drivers window
Close all windows and arm the alarm
Wait 10 minutes
Reach in window and hit unlock on the drivers door
The doors probably won't unlock
Ford did this for a couple years to prevent thiefs from sticking a coat hanger through the window and hitting the unlock button to let themselves in

Did you have the GEM wire hooked up?
If so, check that connection

DoorLock Info: Due To Accessory Power Loss At Generic Electronic Module,Power Door Locks Will Become Inoperable 2 Minutes After Last Door Is Locked And Closed. To wake up the G.E.M Send A Negative Pulse To The YELLOW/BLACK Driver Door Pin Wire With the Unlock Pulse. Diode Isolate Cathode Band Side Of Diode Faces Unlock Triggers. You May Also Get The Wire In The Drivers Door Boot.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll take another look this evening and see what I can find. I started the truck with the remote this morning to warm everything up and the locks worked fine this time?

When you turn the ignition on the GEM module wakes back up. That is why the unlock worked when you remote started the truck. As I said above, you can either disable the GEM from shutting off by following the procedure in the truck's owners manual or you can send a disarm pulse to the drivers door pin and set unlock to double pulse like mo12v wrote. Either way will work.
