my remote car starter antenna is installed at the middle top of the windshield but I still get the poor range of transmission.

the cs 2009 FM is supposed to range up to 1Mille (like the dealer said...) but it can response with a short range like one or two hundred feet.

is this normal?

or because of the antenna placement...

100-200 feet is horrible, especially if the unit is fm. the cheapest units we install still get an average of 800 feet. usually the only thing that affects the range dramatically is either dead batteries in the remote, the window mount antenna being mounted on the tint on the top of the windshield, or a faulty unit. if a dealer just recently installed the unit, i would make them fix the problem.

you are saying that on the tint on the top of the windshield (that's where I mounted it) is a bad location?

Where is the best place to mount this kind of antenna?

The best place I know of is around that area, mabey a little lower because the tint can screw with the range, however I dont think it would be that significant.
