A buddy of mind was telling me last night that he has a problem where if you push a window switch the domelight turns on.  I told him it was probably a vehicle specific problem and that I'd ask around and get back to him.  I don't know if it is related or not but he also is having a problem where the starter makes a click, click, click but when the vehicle is jumped it starts fine. So I don't know if a low voltage problem would cause this domelight problem somehow.  Thanks for your help.

Check the grounds. THere should be one bolted at either end of the dash, also in the kick panels. Check your ground from the battery to the engine. Also check the engine to firewall ground.

I have seen a few trucks like this where there is a power distribution block on the driver's side fender under the hood near the firewall. Check the connections and fusible links there. Check that the battery terminals are clean and tight and that the ground cable from the battery to the body is good and clean. It sounds like you have a power problem and the truck is trying to pull the necessary current backwards through other circuits.
