I am installing a "valet" remote start in a 2002 Dodge Dakota. I got to the "accessory" wires in the column but they don't show 12V in Acc. position. According to my wiring diagram the wires are Green and 2nd is Black and Red. These are supposed to control cimate according to DEI's booklet (which by the way lacks a bit)
I checked in Acc. and the blower motor doesn't go on anyway, in run like any other vehicle it's fine.
I can't seem to figure this one out. I am on this for the 4th hour and am going crazy
Just double checked and I definately have the right wires... ARGGGGG. I know I am missing something here. Key to Acc should show 12V at these wires.
Bobk that is what I thought, but there DEI instructions say that a check of the appropriate wire(s) would show !2V in ACC. and RUN. I am only seeing it in RUN.

I agree. I found a post that claimed the wire was a diff. color. When I checked it showed 12V w/ key in ACC. position. The "2nd" ACC wire still doesnt show any juice though. DEI booklet is useless. ARGGGGG

i dont put the car in accesory to check it.. i actually crank the car and see if the wire loses voltage.. if it does.. thats ur wire!

You're not an idiot. There are two types of accessory wires, and the industry should come up with two different names to reflect this.
Anyway, on that Dakota, here's how it goes:
Ignition 1. Has power in Run and Crank.
Ignition 2. Has power in Run and Crank---but this one's a little different---it actually powers up first, beginning when you just start to nudge the key forward from Off. That's how you tell you have the right Ignition 2 wire on Chryslers.
Accessory(s): Has power in Run only---drops out when you turn the key to Crank. This wire(s) powers your climate controls.
Next is what I refer to as the radio wire for lack of a better term----it comes on in Accessory and Run. This serves to power the radio, wipers, power windows, and other non-essential items-----you may leave this wire untouched. I personally prefer that my wipers and radio remain off during remote start, but that is your choice.

I actually used the BLACK/ White wire at IGN harness as it showed me 12V at RUN & ACC. (w/o cranking). I saw this wire posted on a Dakota Forum from another who was having a problem w/ his R/S.
I have everything hooked up and the R/S works fine w/ this wire substitute. I get Blower w/ this option, but no AC. I know there is the 2nd. ACC. wire to contend with but I will have to add in a relay as the VALET doesnt have a 2nd ACC. output.
To be honest the AC isn't as much of a concern as getting the heat up in the winter months which are fast approaching.
By the way, I like you don't need wipers or anything else to be energized either, don't see the point to have an empty car with music and clear windshield.
