Hello,

I am installing remote starter and having doubts how should I disable clutch switch. I found 2 switched above the clutch pedal, I am pretty sure that it is the second switch from the bottom.

How should I disable it ? Should I connect the 2 wires at the switch together ? Is there any other place, better accessible to disable clutch switch ?

Thanks in advance

Doesn't the install manual for your unit tell how to determine the type of clutch switch you have.

What are you putting in?

the unit is BULLDOG SECURITY RS82 which is designed for automatic trans. it works fine to remote start the car, but since in manual trans civic the clutch switch disables the ignition while the clutch is not pressed it will not work as it should, unless i press the clutch every time i want to remote start the car ... which wouldnt be so remote anymore ...

i always put my car in neutral and pull the e-brake so it might work ...

i know there is a switch on the clutch but i dont know how to bypass it. when i press the clutch the switch is pressed also ... i think there are two wires coming from the switch, so i thought i might connect them ... but since i would like to get some more opinions first, also maybe there is better accessible place to do it ... the switch is deep deep in under the dashboard ...

I found that post ... but I cannot really get the point what I should do and I am not sure if the wiring is not different, how can I check it

The clutch wire is BLUE/BLACK (-) at the clutch switch. You can use the status wire to trigger this wire or you can use a relay to trigger this wire if the status wire is not strong enough.

Thanks!!!

Just to clarify, since I am a newbie and dont want to burn all the wires in my car ...

To disable the clutch switch, bypass it, so I dont need to press it to start the car, I need to connect ground wire to one wire coming from the switch and is should be BLUE/BLACK ? There is only one wire coming from the switch right ? not two ? I think I felt two ... I just want to double, triple check ...

BTW I dont think the Bulldog Security RS82P has any status wire or any other wire/relay I can use to bypass clutch just before it will crank the engine ...

Can anybody confirm that I should ground the BLUE/BLACK wire coming from the switch to disable clutch switch ?

I know I might be pain in the a** but I just dont want to burn the car down and have not that much car electrical experience.

THANK YOU

Joe

One even easier...find the clutch relay setup and put your starter wire from your R/S unit on the Blk/Red (middle wire) instead of the starter wire at the column.

Its a box about the size of a deck of cards located at the top left corner of the fuse box. White with a black connector

I know I might be pain in the a** but I just dont want to burn the car down and have not that much car electrical experience.

This is more the reason NOT TO DO what you are trying to do.

good luck

to close the thread ...

Under the dashboard you'll find 2 wires coming from the second switch from the bottom. One wire has a BLUE color and the other has a Black Color, if you will follow the wires with your hand you will find a quite accessible place where you can direct connect the wires, this will disable clutch switch, that way you will not need to press clutch anymore to start the car. that way your remote started will work.

THANKS FOR ALL THE POSTS. SOME OF THE POSTS WERE TOO ADVANCED TO UNDERSTAND FOR A NEWBIE. MAYBE THIS POST WILL HELP SOMEBODY.
