I just bought a new thor alram and remote start off of ebay, and, i have a 96 cheep cherokee it is going on the seller said the arlm system does not connect to the ignition coil but i have to hook it to a oil light or some other 12v sorce that comes on after engine start up, any suggestions?

never heard of hooking an alarm up to the oil light before.

sounds like the seller doesnt know what he is talking about....12v is 12v .....no matter where u get it at......if i could see a wiring diagram i could tell u.........see if u can find one online and let us know

Its the 12v oil light that turns on after you start the car.

Ive installed these into a 98 Civic, a 99 Galant, 97 3000GT, and an 01 Eclipse. On all these cars, theres a light in the gauges that either says "Oil" or has a picture of the oil icon. Kinda looks like a gravy bowl.

Ive installed these alarms a couple times, and to me... Im not sure but, IMO I think you'd be better off with an alarm system that uses tach sensing. Rather than 12v. Reason being, is because everytime I installed this system using that 12v oil light it asks for the car sounds like it over-starts. Meaning it sounds like someone is holding the key turned to start a couple seconds longer than usual.
