Right i will try to explain this as best i can.

I have a mate who wats to have his trunk(boot to us UK'ers) worked off a channel on his alarm system. What he was to be able to do is press the button and have his trunk open up.

I am guessing that i will need a trunk release kit to pop the trunk but what would be the best way to get the trunk to open right up.

well.... you'll have to ascertain is he has a power trunk (boot) opener button now inside the car or not.... if he does just hook it up with a relay to the Aux out channel of his alarm.... if not, and it's cable driven, you'll have to install a solenoid kit to pull the cable when you activate the Aux channel of your alarm.... it's time consuming if you have to install the solenoid, but really no big deal.....

as far as opening "right up" many do....... some however , depending on how they are balanced will only raise up an inch or two......

Get the trunk pop solenoid, install it to release the latch, and use you hands and arms to open the lid (boot). OR are you guys thinking of trying to do a linear

actuator....something to take the boot all the way up, and down?  The first method is simple and effective....and best of all CHEAP!

good luck

Hi guys,

Probably looking at using an actuator or something to open the boot right up. I saw something on Pimp My Ride. They used something that looked like a electric window mechanism to move the gas strut which holds open the trunk

with a set up like that you CANNOT operate the trunk manually, only electronically
