05 TrailBlazer bypass module

I have an 05 TrailBlazer and am looking at getting a CompuStar remote start system installed. I know I need a module to bypass the factory scurity and another to integrate with the databus system for the doorlocks (or a combo unit) and there are a lot of different options out there. I have a few questions though. Short of carrying 2 remotes around, is there any bypass that will keep the driver 1 and driver 2 preferences via remote. I realize that I have individual buttons on the door for each driver, but doing it via remote like the fcatory keyless does would be nice. Also, I have heard of a few bypasses that automatically activate the heated seats and defrost when outside temps are below freezing. Anyone use this module and how were the results? Seems like a great feature. Lastly, what is the best module to use as far as not "locking up" the truck if the battery died. I have heard horror stories about this and don't need my wife and newborn baby to be stranded due to the remote start system. Any responses and info will be greatly appreciated.

I like the GMDLBP from bypasskit.com. I've seen a couple of them fail, but for the most part it is pretty reliable. The unit WILL lose programming if you disconnect the car's battery. Both remotes will always be Driver 1, and the unit does not trigger the defroster or heated seats.

I believe the DEI 457G or 457GW (W means it's in a plain white box), will do the defroster, but I'm not sure.

The heated seat thing is nice, but not all that effective. I wired my mother's Honda so the driver's seat would heat up with remote start, and two of my cars have aftermarket seat heaters that I can leave in the "On" position.......they make very little heat when someone is not sitting in them.

As far as Driver 1 and Driver 2......... The Audiovox APS-996 has outputs that can be tied to the two different remotes. The instructions are not clear on it, but the feature is there. You would have to run the wires into the doors, figure out for yourself how the 1&2 switdch works, and wire relays to duplicate that. A fair bit of work but it could be doable.

What happens wehen the unit loses programming? Will the truck "lock up" and not start even with a key I try to start it via RS not knowing the unit has lost programming? This is a situation I am trying to avoid, not for me but for my wife.

The GMDLBP won't lose it's programming when you disconnect the battery, but it will not work correctly until you use the remote to unlock and lock the doors a couple of times. After that it will work fine.

I've had GMDL-BP lock up on a customer once and all the factory options still worked but the aftermarket system did not. I cleared the programming on the module and reprogrammed it and all was good. THat was over a year ago so I know its all good.

also the GMDLBP does not like GM's scan tool nor does it like aftermarket power programmers, I am always resetting those stupid things.

What do you recommend? Does anyone have any experience with the GMDAA (I think it's also called a GM All Data by some people) module? I would like a module that will integrate options, but the more importantly, it needs to work seamlessly with the truck and not cause problems, especially if it goes in for any type of warranty work at the dealer. I know how the dealers love to blame everything on the alarm/RS systems so they can charge the customer.

That would depend if the Dealer really understands Aftermarket Equipment.
I have a Chevrolet Dealer that REFUSES to work on any vehicle that has Aftermarket Remote Start until they Unhook it.
Then another Chevy Dealer that works around it, and calls us (even if it's not ours ).
Most mechanics do not understand the DATA type Interface units.....

I like any of the OMEGA units:

GM Passkey 3 & Passlock 2 Override Interface (DB-PASS-23A)

GM Doorlock Alarm & Transponder/Passlock Interface (DB-GMDLBP)

Even the IB-PLXR will work
