I have a viper 430 or something around those numbers (sorry)

i just have a concern or 2

My car, an automatic 00 Celica GT had an Remote start installed by an MECP (wahtever that means) certified tech

anyways, after having it for a little over then a year, when i hit the remote start button, the car will turn the engine over but sometimes it doesn't start

is it because of crappy fuel? the GT only requires 87 octane but when i've added premium it seems to have more "successful" starts

is there any other way to fix my problem? can i tell my tech to please adjust the ignition process?

its kind of embarrasing when i try to start the car in front of my friends and turns the engine over but won't start, just the electronics stay on after that

sounds like a tach problem.....he may have it turned onto voltage sense.....if the tach wire is not hooked up then that would cause it to do that.......i bet that the installer didnt hook the tach up because on that car it is kinda hard to get too.....

Where theres is a wire there's a way.

so if he connects up the tach then the viper system should automatically adjust the remote start and extend the cranking when neccessary

This may sound crazy, but check your hoodpin first. A loose hood pin can cause falsing and faulty remote start operation. Just FYI before you start removing your underdash.

hoodpin as in pin switch, under hood, although i'm sure you knew what i was refering to. in any case, if you didn't want my opinion, why did you post? go have your installer adjust your ignition process.

just connecting the tach. the system will not automaticaly adjust the brain has to be set from voltage to tach, and tach has to fist be learned.
