Hey all, Just curious I have done quite a few chrysler transponder bypasses using a blank key and a relay, and programming the key to the vehicle. I was just wondering if there was a way to accidentally erase a current valid key during the programming process. I quess what i am asking is, is there some DONT"S during the programming procedure. Also how many keys can actually be valid or leaned to the vehicle at one time,ie. does the vehicle erase the first key if you try to learn to many into the car. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated

     thank-you in advance

yes you can accidentaly erase a coded key. As to how it happens i couldnt tell you. i had a customer with an 03 accord i installed a remote start in and used a keybox with a spare key, everything worked fine for a year the the car wouldnt remote start anymore, pulled the key out of the box and tried starting the car with the key that use to be in the box and it wouldnt start, it somehow lost coding.

You can't bump a key out that easily on Dodge. It can happen, but not that easily.

The other cool thing about Dodge..... somehow the keys 'marry' themselves to the vehicle. Ever notice that 555C you programmed to the customer's 2000 Concorde won't learn on their 2003 caravan? Dunno how the hell they do it, but somehow something changes in the pellet and marries it to that vehicle. Wierd.

i was always under the impression the 555C et all    were "one learn only" modules....they can only learn one code, not be constantly reprogrammed...

duh... i know... what i meant was.....(should i speak slowly??)  they are designed and intended to be a "one learn only" module... no reason to be surprised by it or to even attempt to try to learn it to another vehicle.....

quitting time??? it's starter season... i'm lucky when i get out of here before 9 p.m.  ... this time of year it's dark when i get here and dark when i leave...

i was just trying to clarify to mxxmikexx what i meant, as he didnt seem to grasp the subtle difference....   god, did i just use the words "I" and "subtle" in the same sentence?  now there's a contradiction in terms.... what i was trying to say was from the day we started using these years ago i was warned they were a 1 time only module... ( so dont try another if you are not sure if it learned cause if it did you cant use it again)

I think what gus1 was getting at is....
On Fords, GM's, Honda's, and others you can reuse a module on a different vehicle. In Chryslers's they can only be programmed to one vehicle.

i was under the impression the 555F was one learn only as well, can these be reused?

I beleive the 555f is too. Last month we removed the relay but left the pod in the steering shroud. The car wouldn't start and showed two keys untill we removed it, even with no power attached to it.

Can't see why not, it is just a pellet from a key. I know I've programmed a key from one vehicle to the next before without too many issues. Securilock or the gel type keys may be different, but the 1st gen PATS was pretty loose. I believe there was a 10 key max on them too. Once you hit 11, it drops the first one (Kinda like Kelly Bundy.....)

Funny how those viper pellets work, they accually have a coil around the pellet that has continuity until you trigger the relay. they use the coil to suppress the trasponder signal.

so if you cut the relay next time, just twist the wires you cut together.
