hey everyone,

so here's my problem. i have a 97 accord with a viper 690xv alarm. i added on the remote start afterwards. well now that it is starting to get cold i want to start using the remote start more. the problem is, when i start the car it always triggers the alarm. the LCD on the remote says that the shock sensor is going off. i took my car to the shop that installed my alarm and they said it was normal for the car to do that and that the sensitivity just needed to be turned down. it seems to me like they would have to turn it down all the way to stop feeling the vibrations from the engine. the guy i talked to said that i have to start the car and then unlock it if i don't want the alarm going off. this seems totally pointless to me, because it sort of defeats the purpose of having an alarm then right? if anyone can help me out i would appreciate it. i'm not real good with alarms but am willing to learn. or if they could point out somethings to ask the shop i would appreciate that too. thanks

there should be a ground when running output from your remote starter that you can use to disable the shock sensor while remote started and retain all the other security features. Use a relay; hook it up like this: 85 to +12VDC, 86 to ground when running output from RS, 30 to power input to shock sensor; 87a to +12VDC. This will keep your shock sensor functional until you use the remote starter.
