I just installed a python 1500 esp in my car.  When I hooked the battery back up in my car the alarm immediately starts going off.  The alarm brain box is also clicking and so is at least one relay.  The alarm status indicator flashes 3 times n repeats.  Did I install it wrong?    I don't have any preprogrammed remotes for it.  I do have a remote but I haven't managed to get it to program, probably b/c of the other problem.  Also there isn't a relay on my parking lights like there is for everything else.  Does this need a relay?  I don't want to burn my alarm up.

actually the status light changes each time I try and work with the alarm.  it has flashed anywhere from 2 times to 5 times and repeats that number.

This is my first time ever installing an alarm but I feel confident in my wiring.  I got this alarm at a junk yard.  Is it possible it is damaged.

I should be doing just what you said. You will need to hook it up then bypass it with the valet switch. After that you can program your remote.

Do the parking lights need a relay or do they have enuf power to drive the lights?

you dont need a relay on parking light. You probally need to disarm the alarm with the valet button first. Turn the key on and press the valet button. If that does not work try turning key on then pressing th valet switch once release then press and hold till the alarm disarms.

Thx for the help everyone, I got the alarm programmed.  Everything works perfectly.  I was just not using the correct procedure to program the remote.
