Subject: remote starter, unlock doesn’t work
Date Posted: November 24, 2005 at 9:33 PM
I bought a bulldog deluxe 200 model remote starter the instructions specified the follwoing:
330 ohm to unlock
820 ohm to lock.
-----------------------------------------------
The lock works great but the unlock isn’t working. Couple of questions:
A dumb question in does the watts on the resistors matter?? The 820 is 1 watt while the 330 is a half watt. Is there a way to test the wire coming from the unit to make sure that working?
Any help or ideas would greatly be appreciated!

i am guessing a chrysler vehicle, you might have to program the alarm for double pulse unlock

Or you migh thave to reiforce them with a relay if you are not already doing so.

Opps sorry guys. It's a 2002 full size Dodge truck. Look at this diagram link. I do have the 6pin harness and have followed the diagram to a tee. https://64.85.6.129/extrainfo/diagrams/26500_RAM-...redroc, reinforce with relay? what the wiring going to be? Is it diagram 1 in the link above? It sounds like I hear a relay in the unit when I hit the unlock on the remote. mo12v, how do I meter the wire? I do have a digital meter but don't know much about it. :( - Marty

If you followed the diagram you have it wired correctly. Last year i had a Dodge truck that had the same problem. It worked when it left, but stopped after a while. I used a 330, but for some reason it just wouldn't work. I ended up taking a bag of misc. resistors and touching each one to ground and the wire until i found another that did it. I don;t remember what size it was but i never heard about it again. Strange.... I would try removing the 330 and touching one side to ground, the other to the WHITE/ green. If it unlocks you know it's an output problem with the alarm. If it doesn't unlock you know it's a problem with the resistor..... ------------- Mike M2

I touch one side of the 330 to a ground and the other to theWHITE/ green wire corret?

Correct, basically simulating the operation of the onboard relay.

keep in mind also that the value and wire changes depending on whether the vehicle has factory security or not.... if no security try 315 ohm and if yes try 480 ohm

No security so I'll get a 315 to try/ I'll try simulating the onboard relay as mike suggests at the same time. I'll let you guys no how it went. I'll call radio shack to see it they have the 315. Infact I'll get an assortment to try just in case. Thanks a buch guys! Oh hey redroc stated to get a relay but not sure what to do with it???????????????? - Marty

I think he was refering to lock relays, which you apparently already have onboard your remote start.

Urrggg ! Radio shack doesn't have a 315. I had to order the 820 for the lock function because they didn't have that and now I will have to order some different ones and sit and wait another week. Sheesh!
Is there a way to test the onboard relay to make sure it's working properly other then with a resistor?

build one.... try different parallel/series combinations until you have 315-320.... like 2 630's in parallel, or 2 165's in series...etc.

Thanks a bunch guys !!!!! I got it to work with a 270. Never did get the parking lights to work even after working on them for 3 hours. Followed everything to a tee but no luck.
But no big deal, not sure I really wanted the function anyway.
Once again thanks!!

chyrsler vehicles need u to relay the unlcok wire they will lock without a relay but wont unlock u need to relay it

u also have to isolate the switch for the lights to work with a relay

I bought a relay and wired it up per the diagram supplied by Bulldog but couldn't get it working. I tested the 270ohm by grounding the one end and touching the wire and it worked great but when I wired in the relay and unit nothing.

then it sounds like you have the relay wired wrong or the doorlock output of your unit is pooched.....
