Does anyone have wiring info on the 2004 Mazda 3 for installing a alarm and remote start? Especially, tacho wire? Thanks.

Hi. I am installing an alarm/starter combo and I need to find the tach wire. The diagram that I have says "Any wire not GREEN/ stripe @ ignition coil". I can't find the ignition coil. Any idea? Can we find this wire somewhere else in the car? Thanks.

remove the engine cover, you're going to find 4 coils under there.

I bought one of these Carvox combos two months ago. I don't have any problem with the alarm, but the starter is terrible. Haven't been able to fix it yet, so I disconnected the starter and I am using only the alarm. My car is a 2004 Mazda 3 and the wiring diagram doesn't show anything for a the 2nd starter, it says N/A. My problems with the starter are:

- when it is cold, the brain does't like the high rpm and the alarm goes off.

- If it is not cold, when I start remotely, the car starts but the brain doesn't sense the tack signal and keeps kranking.

- sometimes, the car doesn't start and the remote shows the hood is open. Like others, the hood pin in my car is not connected.

Any suggestion is welcomed.

Lybeck: Regarding the programming the door status warning that was posted earlier, I followed the manual's instruction and I could disable it. It is the Feature #5 and you have to put it on Option 2 (OFF) based on the instruction on page 19.

fellani, what kind of Mazda is it?  What color of wire did you use for tach?

It is a 2004 Mazda 3. For the tach wire, I conected to uncommon wire on one of the fuel injectors. I can read about 2 V AC which goes higher as I push the gas pedal.

The tach wire must be hooked up correctly with this system.  Try using a wire from the ignition coil instead. Not GREEN/ stripe.  In a previous post there are pics of it.  If the system is not getting the tach signal it will continue to crank the starter.  I had that problem because it was not hooked up.  Then once I hooked it up it fixed the problem.  So if that is not the case I'm not sure what is going on, I am still working on trying to get tech support for this system.

First I used the ignition coil. It worked for couplpe of times, but then started cranking. I tried the fuel injector where I have stronger voltage, but it was the same problem.

Thank for your help anyway.
