I was installing an alarm in my 99 Durango and I accidentally shorted the pink wire inside the ignition wire harness.

Now the dashboard is inoperable, and the truck will not start.

I think the pink wire is the ACC wire.

I checked every fuse I could find and they all tested out.

If I hook up 12V Constant + to that pink wire the truck starts and the dash works.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?

There is probablu a fusible link which burnt. I am unsure of where it may be but you may have to either rewire it or find the fusible link somewhere.

Do a search, someone had a Durango, and had the same problem. I believe it was an easy fix.

"There were two blown fuses that were hiding on the back side of the fuse panel inside the dash. Replaced these and the truck now starts."

Scott35 are you referring to the two fuses that are located under the dash or are these actually on the back side of the fuse box?

I checked the two fuses that were under the dash and they were fine

I am installing an alarm in a 99 Durango and I am having a heck of a time finding the black plug that is supposed to be located at driver kick.

Does anyone have an image showing the location of this plug?

Some advice on how to best access this plug would also be greatly appriciated.

I checked the fuses under the hood and all passed.

The black plug has the following wires

- 200ma domelight supervision output
Black blue stripe

door trigger input (-) zone 3
Black Blue stripe and Tan Red stripe use both and 1Amp Diodes to isolate.

I have my alarm wired according to the diagram on this site for the 99 Durango and I am having a problem.

The dome light is staying on and causing the door to appear to be open.
I used the light switch for the door sensor. There appears to be a note but it is cut off on the diagram.

Anyone have a work around to my dome light issue?

The truck has delayed dome light.

according to my notes you need to use the BLACK/ blue for drivers door and tan/red for all other doors diode isolate each. Located in black plug in drivers kick panel.

If that is the case either this page on the12volt,com needs to be updated or can someone please elaborate why
www.the12volt.com/installbay/detail.asp?info=alarm&year=1999&make=Dodge&model=Durango&ID=17613&type=Alarm

Also where is the easiest place to access the door lock/unlock wires?
Do I need to use resistors? I am  getting conflicting info on the resistors.

Is this the proper alarm keyless entry hookup for a 99 Durango with factory keyless?
Which side of the wires is in the blue plug under the drivers side dash?

Is there anything else that I need to do?

That would be for the 5 wire Reversal
Have you metered your wires yet?  Some of the 99 Durango's are POSITIVE Pulse rather then 5 wire.....

What would I look for on the dvm to be sure?

My information tells me that it's (+) trigger for al Durango's. To be sure cut one of the wires and if both functions still operate then you have a 5 wire system. If the wire you cut was the lock wire and it stops working but the unlock still works then you have (+) trigger.

Listen for relays clicking while pressing the lock an unlock button. If you hear them, it's not 5 wire. I think they are gonna be positive pulse, ORANGE / purple for lock and pink/purple for unlock in a blue plug in the kickpanel...

Mike M2, I've worked on vehicles that have OEM relays and are 5 wire systems. The only way to test these is to cut the wire. Regardless, the Durango is a type A (+) door lock system if you have OEM keyless entry.

Velocity Motors I am so glad you mentioned cutting the wire and seeing if it still works.
I cut the pink/violet (unlock) wire and both lock and unlock still worked.
Is there any way to check that single wire for sure other then color or tracing it?

And yes there are relays for the switches. Possibly part of the factory keyless.

99 Durango SLT 4x4
Has delayed dome light

One door and dome light share the same wire (Black w/ blue stripe).
Delayed dome light being on after door is closed makes the alarms door sensor read door open.
I can not turn delayed dome off.

How is this supposed to work?

Install instructions state
There are two wires that go to door pins Black Blue stripe  (one door and dome light) and Tan Red stripe (rest of doors) use both and 1Amp Diodes to isolate.

But it seems to me that the delayed dome light would interfear.

Please help clarify this for me.
