I have an old 552T that I am planning to install into a 2000 Dodge Durango.  The problem I have is that I cannot find the remotes to the unit. Can I use the (-) Activation Input (blue/white) wire, reverse the polarity and then use the factory remote to activate it?

There are interfaces out there that u can use to activtate the system, Audiovox makes a pretty good one that uses the factory remote to do the job. Try the reverse polarity thing I doubt it will work, but its worth a try.

Yes, you can do that.

The only thing is, I believe, the activation input is programmed as a default to activate the remote starter with one pulse.

You'll need to find the install manual, borrow someone else's remote, program it to your unit, go into the programming menu, and then set the activation input for two or three pulses.

If you don't do that, every time you lock the doors, the car would start up.

Once all that is done.....

Find the car's "lock motor" wire----that is, the wire going to the factory power doorlock actuators----it'll rest as a ground, and then it'll be a positive when the doors are locked.

Take a relay like this:

85: lock motor from car.
86, 87: chassis ground.
87a: not used.
30: WHITE/ blue activation input.

Now, each time you lock the car, the lock motor wire will trigger the relay.......and the relay will shoot a ground to the WHITE/ blue. Press lock two (or three) times in a row; the car will start.

I don't belive the 552T will have a setting to activate with multiple pulses. posted_image

I've found that this unit cannot be programmed to activate on multiple pulses.  However, is it possible to configure a relay that triggers upon 2(or 3) pulses?
