Hello,

I am one of those guys who bought a Thor 2way alarm/starter off of ebay. posted_image Now I know it's not the most reliable thing to get so lets not go there. However here is my issue and I could use your advice:

The remote starting feature cranks the engine way too short in cold conditions. Basically it retries a 1.5s crank 4 times, then it thinks the engine is running. And even if I press "C" to update vehicle status, it shows the engine as running. When it's not, it's only using up the battery by turning on the ACC.

The "tach wire" was connected in two ways, once to the tach signal which used to work iwth an old remote starter, second to the high voltage cable from the ignition coil. Both times the crank is super short, and eventually shows as "started" when it's not.

Now I have just connected the "tach wire" to an oil pressure sender, and am about to find out what it does below -5C.

The car is a 92 Dodge Spirit 2.5l EFI Automatic.

Am I just going to have to give up on this Thor? It seems like they programmed the thing horribly. How can a 2way alarm/starter show the engine as running when it's clearly not...

ergards

Is there a way to increase crank time on the unit? Check the programming section of the install manual.

Nope there isn't an option to program that, and it's not mentioned in any way elsewhere in the manual.

There is an option for gasoline/diesel toggling, but nothing more in relation to starting. :(

I wonder, if it's something curable by an inline 60K resistor, or if I could replace some capacitor somewhere on the circuit... (doubt it)
