Hi all.

I'm doing a seat swap from a 2005 RX8 to a 1985 RX7. They are power and have the heated seat option. I figured out the power seat part and will be making a harness. Since i'm doing that I might as well take advantage of the heated seats and hook them up. It's a simple design. The thermostats are with in the heating elements, so the switches will just consist of 2 on/off toggle switches.

The problem i'm having is with the relay and what relay to use. I went to Mazda to see if I can find out what the amperage of the heated seats relay is, but I ended up leaving after the frustration of having to speak with useless people. Check out the wiring diagram on page 130 of this pdf file: https://www.hi-impact.org/ryang/modify/rx8_manuals/13_Electrical.pdf

And here is this pic of the relay. Notice the other similar ones that run other crap; posted_image

They couldn't tell me the amperage for those relays. Now can I use a standard sptd relay? I don't see why I couldn't. I just got to figure out the amperage right? EEsh! How can I find out?

Thanks for your help all!

So what is the Fuse Amp for those Accessories??  Or is each one seperate?
As long as you have a Fuse or Circuit Breaker before the Relay,  30 / 40 SPDT Relays should work

The positive wire that gets connected to the normally opened side is protected before the relay by the main fuse 120amp then that wire goes into a 20 amp fuse that is in the fuse block labled "seat warmer". The positive side of the coil comes from the ignition and looks to be connected with the a/c fuse and that is 7.5 amps.

So I could use a fusible link and be ok with a 30/40 spdt relay? That's great news!

Hi all. I'm installing heated seats on my RX-7 and here is a diagram of how it's wired up from the vehicle I removed them from. I'm going to use a 20A SPDT relay.  Can someone please help me figure where toput where on a spdt relay?  I don't want to screw it up and would like advice from you guys. Also would regular lighted toggle switches be ok to use?

Thanks all for your help!
