Problems with Audiovox Prestige Alarm

Hello,

Dont know if this is the right section to ask this question but here's the problem:

I bought an APS25CH alarm when i was on holidays in America.
I had it installed here in Portugal where i live and no problems what so ever.

But know i've been trying to install a windows roll up kit ( to which the alarms
states it can handle it) but no universal kit here in europe seems to fit. I've
tried the cobra universal.

It seems as the signal coming from the alarm is to weak to operate the kit.It
should discharge 12v but it only sends out 1volt.

My question is : is there a specific windows kit that i can buy for this alarm (
by audiovox); or do windows roll up kits work with less voltage there and any
american kit would work. Or is it the alarm that should really send the 12v and
its broken.

And very recently the alarm seems to keep going off with no reason. Could there be a bad connection or is it just the alarm that has broken?

But i must state that i understand very little of car electronics/electrics. Only some little knowledge on car audio.

But let's see if we can reach a mutual point.

What my electrician told me when he was trying to install a Cobra Universal Remote Windows roll up kit was that this kit needs 12v to operate. The Prestige Alarm has an output for remote windows but it's a very weak signal. Where it should be 12v there's only 1 volt. ( dont now if its positive of negative)

This means that when i press the button to activate the remote windows roll up they only roll one or two centimeters up. The the power is not strong enough to lift the windows anymore.

If i get a relay this should be resolved? How?

Please explain in idiot terms!

Exactly that

It works for a few seconds and then the power goes out. If i keep pressing the button it will climb another inch or so.

The Audiovox Prestige has two buttons, one black and another little one in green. The green one operates the windows remote kit.

The electrician also tried using something ( capacitator? - something that holds the energy before sending it to the alarm) but it didnt work.

But the thing is that with the remote control of my alarm it only comes up one or two inches. BUT if my electrician goes to the wires and makes contact the windows will roll up beautifully.

So the problem really the strenght of the signal ( i think!)

The car is a VW if it helps ( a polo, simillar to what you call JETTA)

You need to check your owners manual and see if there are any other channels that will allow the output to stay on that wire until you let go of the button. You have tried holding the button down, right? If none of this works, you could always buy a 528T pulse timer and make it work...

What's a 528T timer?

Do notice that the electrician tried to used something ( that worked has a timer) so that when i press the button the power keeps accumulating and then the signal would be stronger. But it didn't work

The 528T is something different?

Oh, so there are two things

One that holds the power so that it accumulates and that 528T that receives a signal and holds it. It gets the signal from the alarm and then it independently sends it to the windows?

Is that it? Just trying to make sure that that thing my electrician used wasnt a 528T ( or similar)

Where can i get that?

Where can i buy a 528T? Just go into a electrics store and say "I want a 528T"?

And how easy is it to connect?
