I have a 2005 nissan altima with 3.5litre and automatic trans.

I installed my remote starter back in Sept., everything worked fine but never really gave it any thought. Now that winter has arrived in Canada I realized that when I leave my wipers on and remote start the car the wipers come on. This can be a problem because we get heavy snow falls and freezing rain in the winter forcing the wiper mechanism if there was an accumilation of snow or ice on the windshield.

Is there a way around this problem or did I wire the acc.wire wrong.

thanks you.

Jack

no you didnt if they dont come on unless you leave them on. the fix is not to leave them on but if your like me and always forget you can wire a relay in the power curcuit to the wiper motor. do some research in the relay section of this forum i would explain but have to go. im sure someone else can help. good luck

That's a tough one because i believe the wiper switch is a data link to the IDPM under the hood. Behind the right headlight is the IDPM. There should be a gray 16 pin plug with a blue wire that reads positive when the wopers are on low You could interupt that wire with a relay whenever the remote start is on. It will only work for low, if you want to interupt high also you will need a second relay to interupt blue/black in the same plug.

Thanks Mike M2. I have been looking at the shop manual and your right, the wiper motor gets its power from a relay in the engine bay which gets the signal from a data line, it is not a direct line from wiper switch to relay.

That is alot of work to get a wire from the remote starter to the engine bay. I had to remove the wheel well and alot of the dash to get my tach wire and the hood pin wire to the engine bay and am not ready to do it again.

Could i just  disconnect the acc. wire from my remote starter and use a relay to activate the blower motor.?

Is there something else that uses the acc. wire from the remote starter, besides the blower?

How many acc wires did you hook up? You should only need:
1 ignition wires
1 accessory wires
2 starter wires

Many tech sheets will list a 2nd accessory wire (WHITE/ blue) for a Nissan. 95% of the time it is not needed. I believe that wire powers the wiper circuit and some other un-important items. If you don't hook up that accessory wire, your wiper circuit won't be active when remote started.

I removed the relay for the (WHITE/ blue) acc. wire. That only turned off my radio when in remote start, but my wipers are still on.

Still baffled and thanks to all who are trying to help me.
