Subject: What to ask potential installer

I am getting ready to purchase an alarm system for my son's new car and I know absolutely nothing about them.

But as a carpet installer, I know that your new carpet is only going to be as good as the technician who installs it is, and I am assuming that it's the same for alarm systems.

What questions should I be asking, and what answers should I be looking for from potential installers when I go shopping for my son's car alarm?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Tammy

Well with alarms you can ask for pictures of their alarm work. Doesn't really mean much but you could.

I would ask how they make their connections, solder or t-tap, solder being best. Whether they tape or spin their wires for prep, tape/match to the vehicle being best. Where they mount the brain or if "stealth type" installs are available and how much.

You also may want to know if they've done your type of vehicle. And how long they've been doing alarms.
