Ok im installing a hornet 553t with remote start and it has become a 5 day project. For the most part its installed. The problem lies with the door locks. When all doors are closed I can lock all but unlock only 3 the driver door stays locked. whenever the passenger door is open then it unlocks all the doors. I used the wiring diagram from this website. Im also wondering what steps do i take to disable the factory alarm because i think its also causing a problem. Another issue im having is with the remote start. again, i used the diagram from this website and i can ground what needs to be and the car starts right up but i cannot remote start from the transmitter. Very puzzling to me. Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong.... the car is a 1995 Mazda Millenia

lock are a 1 wire system . wire is RED / black in driver kick panel you need a ground thru a 1k ohm resistor for lock and full ground for unlock. as for the disarm wire it is light green / red also ground and in the driver kick .as far as the starter you say ground what needs to be and it starts what are you referring to .???

i don't understand what you mean by full ground and a resistor for the lock if its a one wire system how can i do both... as for the remote start its when you put a ground wire to the relays then the car starts... like i say i can't get it to start with the remote

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

in a one wire system, both lock and unlock wires from the alarm get connected to the same single "one wire" in the vehicle. The resistor lowers the voltage (value dependent) thus the reference to a full 12v ground for unlock and a lower voltage (with resistor) for lock. As for the disarm wire, branch off the unlock wire, diode isolated (cathodes towards the alarm brain) and connect to each wire. ------------- Viper Equipped

Ground is the metal chassis of your vehicle. If you are not sure where a good place to put it, you can look for the spot the factory grounds most of its wires, which will have about 15 wires grounded at one place usually somewhere in the drivers kick panel. What they are saying about a "Full Ground" just means a negative signal, and they said it like this, because the other pulse for your doorlocks needs to identify itself to the single wire system for the system to know whether to lock or unlock. The resistor acts as the identifying agent which reduces the voltage form "Full Ground" in order to distinguish the signal.
