I am going to be installing a remote start on a 98 4runner. Does anyone know how to bypass the factory alarm? The wiring diagrams I have don't have anything listed for Factory Arm or Disarm. I believe this unit is a RS-3000. Let me know.
Thanks in advance!

Or does this unit only need a lock/unlock pulse to disarm and rearm the alarm?

Just did a 97 4runner. But that model did not have a factory alarm.

Is it a keyless upgrade? does it have a light pod under the dash? It could also be a factory Toyota upgrade alarm installed at the dealer, those are usually T-harnessed.

I believe it is a factory Toyota alarm installed at the dealer. The unit is under the drivers seat and it does have the secuirty light on the console. It does look as though all of the wires where connected with T-Taps.

What does this mean??OEM Alarm Disarm: N/A IN SCHEMATICS

Any Toyota alarm starting with RS is dealer installed. I know they do connect to the keysense, but i'm not sure if it will disarm the alarm. Honestly, you may not have to. Most only have a starterkill and no shock sensor, just like an aftermarket. If that's the case just apply your starter wire after the the T harness at the ignition switch and let it stay on....

On that kind of alarm you could just remove it.

It does have a shock sensor I saw it under the dash. The alarm will sound if you hit the glass to hard or open a door while armed.

you can just remove it, but have to take off the harness that goes in between the ignition swith and the harness, or you car wont start, you can also use the factory led still of you want with an aftermarket alarm.

I could remove it but I would rather leave it in and be able to control it.
