I have a 2002 pontiac grand am. the problem is that sometimes the factory alarm system malfunctions leaving the car undrivable. then you have to leave the ignition key in the on position for ten to fifteen minutes and then it will start.

how do you disable this system so that the car will start normally?

you can't disable the system. The Passlock II system is a factory theft immobilizer. Take it to a GM dealer and have them diagnosis the problem. You can't bypass this system you can only duplicate it as when you are installing a remote starter.
