When recently installing a remote start (562T) for a 1997 Mercedes C 230, the car would not start without a key being in the ignition. An immobilizer bypass (556U) was then experimented with but with no avail due to the large size of the key housing. The remote start does work even when the key is in the off position, and can easily be removed once the car is started. This seems to be a starter-kill circuit maybe involving a transponder/keysense. How can the keysense be bypassed, if possible. Technical experts at two major alarm companies could not be of assistance in the troubleshooting.  It would be a great loss of money if the car cannot be started. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

-Mike

The next thing to try would be to hold the key head up to the ignition cylnder to see if it is really a keysense thing, or a transponder based thing. If it starts with the key placed in front of the ignition switch, then you need to figure out a way to do a transponder in there. If still no go, then you need to find a wire that changes state when the key is inserted into the ignition chamber. That is your keysense.
