I have a Ford excursion that came with a valet 552t remote start that worked fine for the first year we had it. Now when I try to remote start it, the running light flash then it cranks but never starts, just cranks. I had to change the battery a while back, Do I have to reprogram something?? Or anything else to check???

Thanks

Brian

withg any luck it's just the bypass module got un programmed.  If they used the one I'm thinking of here's what you do.  You will need 2 keys to the vehicle to do this.  Take key 1 put it in the ignition and turn it on (don't start the truck though) and wait for the security light to go out.  take that key out and put the second key in and do the same thing.  Once the security light goes out, take that key out and try remote starting the truck.  Hope this works for ya.

First check to see if the theft light is flashing when you remote start it. If it is, refer to cntrylvr79's post. If this is the case, and you tried his instructions and STILL nothing....you'll have to re-position the transponder bypass and program it again.

If it's not flashing, but just cranks, start it with the key. Withing 5 seconds. press and hold the program button until the LED comes on solid. That is if there IS an LED.

Third, it's possible the fuse blew that supplies ign during remote start. Check all fuses.

If I had to guess, 9 out of ten times it's a misaligned transponder bypass.

I think it is a 1999 valet 552t

It might be the little dome on the front top center of the dash on that model. It will come on, then go out with a properly programmed key. If the bypass isn't programmed, it will flash rapidly while starting, and just keep cranking.

hope this helps.

Most installers only use the LED for programming. You might have to get one and plug it in. If you get stuck, I might have an extra.
