I posted many questions on this car. I am not an installer, just a guy who likes to do his own stuff. I got my second remote starter installed in the car, the first one burned up due to moisture (it worked very well for about 6months). Here is the problem, The car will go into reservation mode, I can turn off the ignition and pull the key without the car stopping, get out and close the door. At that point the car will stop...this is good. When I go to remote start the car it starts runs about 1 second then stops. The theft and service lights stay on. This is what I have tried, I put the key in the ignition (ignition off) same result, key in 2nd position same result, key in run position it stays running. I am trying to figure out if my bypass mdule is working, an installer at best buy told me to do this. From what he said; the module is ok and I need to hook up the second ignition wire, however I do not see a second ignition wire (wiring diagrams or car). The main question is; did the installer at best buy give me wrong information? How do I check to see if my bypass is working? Is there a chance I burned up the module when I burned up the 1st remote starter? How can I test to be sure the remote starter (Ultra Start 3256M) is putting out a ground while running? If the specified wire for ground while running is not working how can I create a ground while running? The car is a 2002 Cavalier and I am using a Crimestopper GM-U7 module with a Ultra Start 3256M. This is my wifes car, and I feel like a tool cause my truck has a working remote start that I installed last year. Thanks in advance.

There isn't a second ignition if there is no white wire in the harness of the car, but there is a second accessory you may as well power up.
As far as the Passlock system goes.... I generally have better luck with the type that wires directly into the passlock wiring itself instead of heading through the data wire at the diagnostic plug. 555L from DEI is pretty bulletproof....

Is that pretty straight foward to install, and does it require a key?

Well go wire by wire how you installed the bypass, this is the problem. Try grounding the blue/black activation input and then remote start the car and see if it stays running.

Okay, I will try grounding the wire, but I won't get to it until tomorrow. I clicked your link and it's for the directed 555L, thanks for the manual so I can see what's involved. Curently I have the GM-U7 (crime stopper) I assume I can do the same thing with that ground while running wire. Again, thanks for the help and I will get back to you guys tomorrow.

Well I missed the brand. At anyrate try grounding the activation wire for the bypass, won't necessarily be the blue/black.

Sweet, thanks for the help. I grounded the wire and the car remote starts great. I guess the ground while running wire from the brain isn't working. What can I do to get a ground when the remote starter is activated?
