Does anyone know if the 03 Envoy is the same as the 02 as far as Security/Start installations are concerned? I'm getting the O.E. Security light coming on after remote starting. Even after the key is put in and turned on and the brake is pressed, the security light still stays on. I have to shut it down and re-start it manually for the light to go out. What am I not doing?

Try to figure out the behavior of the security light, more information will help us diagnose the problem. Determine when the light comes on specifically. Start the car with the key and compare what the light does then compared towhen you remote start it. Also it is helpful to know how consistently the security light turns on. Then post the results. ------------- J Rilla

What are you using to bypass the Passlock 2? What color wires are you using?

Yes, they are the same. What bypass are you using for the Passlock data link wire ( PURPLE at the test connector ) ?

Hey Jeff, if your out there... O.K. To start with, I'm using Code-Alarm GUIDES so bare with me... I was trying to use a Audiovox AS-GMDTIDL GM data interface but I could'nt get it to work. This is my first Envoy (I usually only install at Ford and Chrysler Dealerships) and I am confident that I located the correct module (drivers side, lower left of steering column, 3 conn.?) But, I still could be wrong! So, I just 5-wired it in the doors. Then I used a Audiovox AS-GM4 to bypass the PASSLOCK II, there are however, 3 yellow wires of the same gauge in that area. It may be possible I cut the wrong wire. After I cut the wire, it read 6K and reversing the leads I got 6.4K, making me think this was the correct wire. What are ya thinkin? -------------

Hmmmmm... I did one last week ( the Envoy , not XL with pwr windows & OEM RKE )and it went great. I used the PLDATA to bypass the Passlock and used the GMDL1 for the windows, door locks and dome light bypass. The vehicle data wire is in the 16 pin connector position # 2 ( second from the left with the connectorfacing you and wide portion on top ). This is a PURPLE wire and this is what you needed to connect the interface wire to on both bypass modules. Did the unit learn the proper code when you programmed it ?

Yes, the vehicle starts fine and stays running it's just that dammed security light comes on after remote starting and won't go off unless you shut the vehicle down and restart it with the key. This Envoy is fully loaded with RKE. Did I have the right location for the DATA module? Do you HAVE TO run to the purple wire at the data conn. to bypass the O.E. security? Maybe thats my problem. My customer has the vehicle and is coming back tonight, I'm almost ready to just refund his money...

Try a different bypass module ( other than the one in the vehicle ) and see if the problem persists. What I did was just run the data wire from the bypass module that I had to the test plug under the driver's dash and attached it to the PURPLE wire. I programmed the module and it was done.... complete integration of the windows, doors, Passlock II bypass and domelight delay ( with an added relay of course ).
