I have a 2004 mazda 3, manual transmission, I have a command start 386IM remote starter for it this remote start is designed for a manual transmission, I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to bypass the clutch properly on this car, I need to know which pins on the relay go where Thanks

Look at the switch where clutch travel bottoms out. Probably two wires going to it. You need to connect them permanantly or have the remote starter supply a ground or positive pulse (depending on the car) to the correct wire. You can find the correct wire by backprobing with your DMM to see witch one is operated by the the switch. I have a Ford Focus ST which is very similar to your Mazda and the clutch is a ground wire.

yah but this is different there are two switches both with two wires coming out of them the bottom switch which you mentioned, both the wires are black with a yellow stripe, and apparently it is triggered from the starter wire, correct me if I am wrong

in the harness coming down the drivers sill. look for a grey/black wire. test to see what it does, last one I did was a negative type clutch, but I've heard there's positive clutch in there too.

yah that will be fun, well there is only one harness running down the sill and up the kickpanel, but there is like 6 or 7 grey/black wires in it I tried hooking the park brake wire from the brain right to the (-)neutral safety wire at the ECM in the engine compartment but that wouldn't work cause I realized that this is a manual safe unit and I had to do a proper shutdown sequence to remote start which included pulling the park brake, so that wouldn't work

When you say there are two switches, do you mean one switch at top of clutch pedal travel and one at botom? If this is the case, the top switch is to turn your cruise off and the bottom switch is for the starter. ------------- Keith

Use the grey/black It needs a NEG(-) "start " signal. As well as the starter wire at the ign. switch.

Of the two wires on the bottom switch, you say they are both yellow/black. One is towards the floor and one is kind of above it. I believe it is the one on top that is switched. Check for continuity to ground on both. The bottom wire on the bottom switch is probably grounded at all times, while the top wire on the bottom switch is probably only grounded with the clutch in. The wire that is only grounded while the clutch is pressed in is the one you want to send a neg. pulse to while cranking. You could also bypass clutch permanantly by cutting the two and connecting and soldering them. This will mean you NEVER have to push the clutch in to start the car.

hara73, bad idea to bypass the clutch the way you suggest.
Which way is bad, the permant way?? I know it's bad but it's an easy answer if someone is too lazy to bypass it only during crank...I'm only telling him his options...I'm not SUGGESTING anyhting. ------------- Keith
