i have installed a prostart ct3400 into a 2001 gmc sierra denali, i  have done the tach program procedure but when started on the remote the starter stays engaged, i tried a tach signal from a injector, a coil pack and the ecm. i believe the problem is to low of a signal I'm only getting a bout .5v ac the install manual says it needs 1.8v ac at idle or it will over crank. What the heck am i missing. where can I get a stronger tach signal from or am I just missing the boat??

I have the same model and it does sound like the tach signal, because when i wasnt getting the right wire off of the coil, the starter would stay engaged until the RS shut the car off. I then found the right wire off of the distributor and now it starts, better than when i start it myself,,,,heheh

Cranks it up, and instantly shuts the Starter off.   From what I read also ensure there is a good ground..   I just went right to the battery ground.

good luck with it

well seeing you have coil packs the distributor advise wont help. but the ground is diffently something you need to check. where are you getting your reading from when you say it's a half volt ac? are you probing the components them selfs? or are you checking at the remote start connection? and did you get the signal after or befor the ecm?
