Anyone hear of solder tape?

I have ordered a remote starter from Alarmtech and bought some rosin core solder from Radio shack today. They had marked down this product called "low temperature solder tape". It looks like little metal bands. You wrap these around two connected wires and take a lighter and melt them to form a soldered joint.

ANyone have any ideas if these are ok?

yes use proper solder don't bother with any quick substitute

Ditto on the quality of the solder.

I'm nervous enough just poking around under a dash with my soldering iron. The idea of using an open flame makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
