I installing a dei valet 561r in my friends 2002 Ford Focus.  Tomorrow I am installing some actuators to convert his manual locks into power door locks.  I also want to hook up the trunk release button while I am at it.  From the diagram found on this site it appears that the trunk release button on this car is a - signal.  Am I able to use a relay some how to hook into the RED / white auxilary wire to pop the trunk with the aux button, or do i have to get a whole trunk release solenoid because of the negative signal being sent out by the button.

Some Installers wire Direct, but I am sure your instructions recommend a Relay.
Sometimes the 250ma output is not enough & you risk damage........

Can someone give me a relay diagram for when the trunk release button is a negative (-) signal?

Hmm, how come KPierson and mo12v said different things?  Will both work if the trunk release button is sending a - signal, or is one of you incorrect?  I appreciate the fast responces by the way..

Pins 85 and 86 are interchangeble, as they are non polarized coil wires.  As long as you have a ground on one side and 12vdc on the other the relay will work.

Pins 30 and 87 are interchangable IF you are using the relay as a SPST NO relay, as we are.  These are basic switch contacts (connected when engerzied, disconnected when not energzied).
