We just installed a viper 771 2-way RS unit on another installer's 2005 chevy 1/2 ton P/U. everything works fine but the airbag light is staying on. we have both ignition wires powered. we just jumpered off ignition 1 to ignition 2 but diode isolated them. should i use a relay instead? we can't get the light to go off even with a code reader. what is wrong?

i wouldnt suggest diode isolating those wires....also use a relay.

Where theres is a wire there's a way.

771 Has all the ign and acc outputs you need.

I would have it scanned at GM and find out what the airbag code is.

we powered up the first and second ignition and the first and second accessory wires. we used a code reader on it but we can try another code reader. has anyone came across this problem yet?

You would need some really big diodes to be able to power two ignitions wires with 1 output.

99% of the time you don't need the brown acc. wire.
Connect as follows.
CAR WIRING/ REMOTE START WIRING
pink --> pink
pink/white --> white
orange --> orange
Also, make sure the pink/white wire is still programmed as an ignition output

and make sure you have the Right white wire... often there are 2 whites ate the column

Yes, I agree with JWORM. I have not had the airbag light come on, but I have had the check engine light come on.  I dont hook up the brown acc. wire. so you can freely use pink and pink/white.

Never had any problems with any of the Chevy PU's yet. The AIR BAG light will be because of an ignition wire. Relay isolate the 2nd IGN and your problem will go away. There's a reason why the manufacturer has the IGN on separate wires.

You may want to try rerouting the 12V constant to a different location. A friend of mine had this problem  on a Chevy  truck and the explanation was that the PCM monitors the voltage on this wire (haven't confirmed if this is true or not) and the voltage drop from the alarm causes the problem. However this was one of his symptoms and then the instrument panel started tripping out.

Jeff is right, separate the two ignition wires. If you would have tried this on a Camry it will even blow fuses! You don't need the brown wire energized, remove it and power up pink, white and orange only. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and the problem should be solved...
