I am installing a Viper 791 in a 2004 Ford Escape and i have everything hooked up except for the 555s since i had to order that and it is not in stock yet so obviously the remote start wont work like normal but the car should start with the key in the ignition.  However with the key in the ignition the car starts and runs for like 10 seconds and turns off does anyone know why this is happening.  Also with the key not in the ignition the start never even cranks which is normal so the car is obviously recognizing the key is there, so i dont know where else the problem maybe.

On the 791 there is a diagnostic mode. After it shuts down, hold the valet button. turn ignition on, then off, let go of valet. press and relese valet once. LED will blink to tell you what is causing the shutdown. there is a chart on page 52 of the manual to tell you what is wrong. hope this helps.

start the vehicle, then press and hold the valet switch until the LED lights solid. then the tach is programmed; however, doesn't mean you have an ideal tach signal. where did you get the tach from?

Pull off the top engine cover and grab your tach signal from an injector. Use the wire that isn't common between them. Or you can change it to voltage mode and not use tach at all.

I thought with Ford Escape you could get away with 556UW.  Def. sounds like your tach wire (assuming thats what you ran) try it on voltage mode, and see what happens.

556U can be used just remember to tag the keysense to shut down the bypass. If not you will clear both key codes when you insert the second key.
