Im thinking about picking up a Code Alarm model number CA630 (alarm/keyless/remote start) system and self installing it into a 2000 (non grand) Cherokee. This Jeep does NOT have a "chip" in the key. But it does have remote locks, and a panic button.

FIrst off, i should state that i have never installed an alarm system before. But I am a DIY type of person, i do all my stereo installs, and Work on my own cars (well, as far as working on my car my father plays a big part in that department.)

So my main questions are:

-If i purchase the CA630 system is there ANYTHING else Needed to get the alarm and remote start up an running on a 2000 Cherokee?

-Is the CA630 a deceint relieable product?

I tried looking around the net for an install guide Specificly for a 2000 cherokee, but unable to come up with anything. I guess im trying to figured out how Big of a task this really is before i dive into it.

I called around a few local install shops to get some price quotes for alarm with installation:

~250 for alarm install

and

~350 for alarm with RS install

You can easily get in over your head.  Alarms and RS are not just 3 wires like an amp.  You need to know MUCH more about electronics, cars, and how they interact with each other.
