What is the make of the remote starter? Did you hook up the Accessory wire from the remote start to the Accessory line of the vehicle?

Also, post all your connection of your remote starter unit to the wiring of the vehicle. We may be able to spot the error somewhere on your install.

hello again, i am using a pro start ct3300 unit.

the 12v,ign,and starter are  hook up as follows

12v to the battery

ign to the  pink/ehite

starter   yellow.

there is alsow a seconde starter wire whihc is cupped to pwr up the sacc

and i have hook it up as follow

pin86 12 volts from the remote start uunit when running

87 with 180 ohm resistor to the second start wire

85 and 30 to ground.

if i remove the goround at 85 the vech just cranks and wont start.

Green wire on the main harness of your remote starter has to be set to Second Starter using the jumper on the back.

"pin86 12 volts from the remote start uunit when running"

Connect the Green wire (this will become your second starter wire once you have selected the correct jumper pin on the back of the remote starter unit.) to pin 86.

"87 with 180 ohm resistor to the second start wire"

This is correct.

"85 and 30 to ground."

This is also correct.

"if i remove the goround at 85 the vech just cranks and wont start."

It won't because it requires a second starter ground through 180 ohm in order for the vehicle to start.

Try that it should work better now.

if your heater is not coming on, it sounds like an ignition problem. with that vehicle you don't need to hook up the accy wire for remote start. the heater works off of your ignition. double check to make sure those connections are right and make sure you power the 1st and 2nd ignitions in the right order.

for got to ask one more question, do i have to use realys with the door locks?  or i can just use the resistor and straight to the output from the unit?

use relays unless the alarm has built in relays.

That's good the hear.

As OhioMike1101 suggested, yes you will require to use relays for the Prostart unit.

If you feel for the clicking of the factory relays you can tap directly on to it. I would not recommended unless you have seen it being done, so use the relays.

I'm trying to install a remote starter for my 2001 Dodge Caravan and need help with some basic install questions.  I'm more used to computer electronics.  For the 180 ohm resistor and relay on the 2nd start wire, how should I do the wiring?  Do I just solder the connections and tape them up or is there some socket or bread board type thing for automotive work?
