I am hooking up a remote start with keyless in a 2000 dakota.  I was using Direct tech sheet and found that i was supposed to tap into the pink/purple and the ORANGE / purple wires for the door locks (both with a (+) pulse).  The problem Im getting is that when you lock or unlock the doors with the keyfob with the door unlocked the doors will lock.  If I lock or unlock the doors with the keyfob and the doors are locked, the door locks will then quickly unlock and then lock again.  I don't have it set up for double pulse and I isolated the lock/unlock outputs with relays (451m).  The unit is a code alarm 510a.

Thanks,

isus

Does your remote start unit have a - or + output for door locks???

I usually hook them up in this location without any problem.

LOCK =                                                                Polirty

RED / yellow  -  pin B17 @ security module

UNLOCK =                                                          Polirty

RED / blue  -  pin B6 @ security module

Its a Code.  They flip flop from (+) to (-).  This is why I isolated them with relays.  I think the wires from the brain rest at (-).

Your truck sounds like it has a single door lock system. If this is the cause you will have to use the resisters as stated above. If your unit has Neg outputs for the door locks you don't have to use relays.
