i am having a strange problem with my handbrake while trying to install my remote starter. it is supposed to read 12v when not engaged, and ground when it is engaged. instead it is reading +1V when engaged, and 12V when not engaged. somehow, my starter still works whether or not the handbrake is engaged. does anyone have any ideas?

Check the plunger switch at the hand brake and see if it makes ground or not, type and year of veichle would be helpful.

i mean i think it is... it shows +12V when the handbrake is not engaged and +1V when the handbrake is engaged.  don't know what other wire would do that....

the wire registers 12v when the brake is not engaged and 1v when it is engaged...

i hooked up my tach sense wire from my remote starter to the appropriate wire (which i tested) coming out of hte ecm on my 2000 toyota solara. however, after doing so, the rpms stopped being registered at all on my tachometer. it jus stayed at zero. does anyone know why this would be? also, right now i have the starter set to alternator mode to detect hte voltage spike when the car turns on. seems to be working fine, i am only worried that during a cold start it might need a little longer to start and the unit wont give it long enough. any suggestions?

i accidentally hooked up a +12v to the negative parking light trigger in my 2000 toyota solara. now the lever to switch on hte headlights doesnt turn on my parking lights or the interior lights. however if i light hte car's nighttime sensor turn the lights on for me and i leave the lever in the off position, everything works as normal. what have i done and how could i fix it? thanks!
