OK guys- I got this thing to start (1998 ML 320) by placing the transponder close to the key ring in the car- no problem. Any way, shape or form I install a 555u the thing will not respond - Help! Any suggestions? Thanks, Steve.

in the techsoft program it has a note about this vehicle saying that the key has been known to loose programing when used on a remote starter install? any truth to this?? and that the vehicle has to be brought back to mercedes for programing. and the door locks have to be 5 wired at the keyless module under the hood????? is this true??? Ive had a few customers inquiring about remote starters for this vehicle, but it sounds like one of those installs that you might wind up marrying into. and the factory alarm can only be disarmed with the factory remote???? so if you remote start the vehicle, will that trip the factory alarm???Ive turned away a few of these jobs already after reading this info. anyone out there tackle one of these successfully?

Hey guys- The keys are still OK, I've been REAL carefull about that! Jeff- I tried two 555u and tried the hardwire to the factory key ring also, yes, i made one from scratch also. I can't let one lousy car beat me at my own game! Steve

How many times did you wrap the 22- 24 gauge wire around the key head and how many times around the key cylinder to induce the signal of the Immobilizer key ? - mxxmikexx: Chances are not all ML320's have this problem..only select ones do witht he transponder key.
- The keyless is an optional spot to grab the wires, you can also grab them through the door boot or at the switch.
- The OEM alarm is a problem for most of the newer vehicles that do not have a DISARM wire and can only be disarmed with the OEM remote. What you can do ( from what I've heard ....this has not been tested by myself ) is to try arming the system and then unlock the rear hatch and if the alarm doesn't engage with the door open, then the system also disarms with a wire in the hatch. If so, grab this wire and pulse before start to disarm the OEM alarm system. If the alarm DOES go off, then there is no way around this system other than with the OEM remote.

Jeff- Thanks for the insight. The car left yesterday with no remote start. I had two installers and a MB tech check my install. I hate to admit defeat, but I just ran out of time !

No problemo... too bad about the loss sales, but no use smacking your head over something that won't work ------------- Jeff
