Im interested to read about how you strip the middle of a wire without breaking it.

On my last install I used a stripper to make two cuts and then with a razor, by hand, I sliced in between them. This inevitably led to cutting a few wires, and was very hard on my fingers.

There should be a tool that removes a piece of insulation in the middle of a wire.

Thx for your advice!

its a little dif than your idea but walmart and other autoparts stores sell a connector that just connects on the existing wire and lets you splice of off it.

Iwould not use the ttap type connectors not reliable. I always strip the wire like you the poke the wires through the middle twist and solder.

is there anything wrong with cutting the wire in half and then twisting the 3 ends togeter and then crimping them?

What kind of connector do you use to tap into the wire doing it that way? any pictures?

Problem with cutting the wire in half is that you may be disturbing the integrity of the original wiring harness, and you may not have enough slack in the wire to pull the two ends back together with enough overlap to reconnect them properly-

so what can I use without having to solder?

Shawzie you should take the time and solder all connections.

Thx for the replys.

I read dualsport's link... so basically i use automatic strippers that I would normally use on the tip, and use them to squish the insulation to one side?
