Hi, I am trying to install an alarm/remote starter combo in my 1993 Honda Civic (4 door sedan trim). I have purchased an X-Shield XS-800S alarm/starter combo, and plan to install it. The only problem is that my car is a standard transmission, and the installation maual is for an automatic transmission. I understand that the process for a standard is different than an automatic, but I don't know how. Could anyone please explain to me what the difference is, and perhaps how to install this in a standard transmission car? Thanks.

I have a 93 Civic, and would like to add power locks to it. I am new at installing things myself, and am not sure where to start with this project. Any tips or help in this matter would be much appreciated. Cheers.

there are very few remote start systems on the market for manual trannys, that i know of. (reason being for safety of the vehicle during start attempts, dont wanna put your rig through the garage door for leaving it in gear for example) the best that ive found so far for manual trannys is "ultrastart" model 2256m it has built in safety features that if installed properly makes it safe and easy to use! as for the remote locks, i assume you have manual locks in your civic(not electric) all you need are a pair of relays, and an aftermarket doorlock actuater for each doorlock. they install inside your door and attach to the locing mechanism itself, and is powered by your alaerm via the relays. if this is the case, i can email you diagrams on how to wire the relays. hope this helps.

The best solution i've come up with so far is to add an old shaker type sensor to the motor itself. The last one i did was a Supra. Hook up the E brake so it has to be on. If the car is in gear the shaker will trip if it feels the motor jump hard and shuts down. The most the car moves is a foot. It is important to get the shaker set right...

hi i have a 5-spd, 93 civic and i am installing an X-Shield XS-800S alarm/remote starter system in it. I need to bypass the clutch with a relay, but i am not sure how to go about it. also, does anyone have any experience with the above mentioned system? i was wondering if it is any good. any advice would be greatly appreciated.. M

Guys don't install an remote starter with a manual tranny vehicle unless it's designed to work that type of transmission. Everyone thinks the car will hit a wall or a garage door and don't really care much.
But what about it running over someone on the street like a person? Or maybe a kid?? Did you think about that? Too risky and not worth it.
Buy something like a Pro start from Canadian Tire or a Compustar/Nustart, or the one mentioned above.
Yellow plug accesible by removing the fuse block. Two wires are present, one rests at ground. When the clutch are pressed a short between the two is created.
Do the same with a relay and you're set..
Just make sure you use a starter designed for manual trannys.
