Techsoft says that when doing a remote starter in this vehicle it is necessary to isolate the key side of the ignition wire with a relay when doing remote start. Is this true??? i just got done doing one and did use a relay, but i dont really understand why you need to isolate the key side of the ignition wire? but i figured i didnt need any headaches on a saturday install so better off safe than sorry i guess....

....i wish all cars had that much room under the dash to mount brains........

I did one of those without the relay....because techsoft tends to lie about so many other things.

When installed normally, without the extra relay, this is what happens:  First, remote start the car.  Then, as you normally would, insert the key and turn it to Run, like you were going to drive away.  For whatever reason, this causes the starter to grind against the already-running engine for about 1/2 second---not too good.

Since the Celica ignition wires are of such small gauge and obviously can't be carrying much current, I just cut the ignition wire in half, splice a pair of large diodes inline, and attached my remote start's ignition wire to the "car" side of the diode.

sounds like that would be alot easier instead of wiring up a relay
