We purchased a remote starter for my in-laws for Christmas and it appear that it is not working correctly. It was installed by a professional. We paid for the door lock feature. When they picked it up from the installer they could not get the doors to unlock and they got the installer to come out and he said that you would have to turn car off to unlock the doors. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the starter? I tried to use it yesterday and I had a problem too. It seems that somehow the installer programed the remotes that they had for the car already. In order to start the car I would have to use the original remote to lock the doors and then use the new remote to start the car. I thought that once the car starter was installed the old remote would not be of any use. I know that I can take it back to the installer to have them look at it but they are an hour away. I will call them today but I thought that maybe I could get into programing and fix it myself. It is a CodeAlarm, I don't know which one but the remote has a lock/unlock button and a key button. Could someone please let me know how to get this to work correctly.
Thankyou in advance for any help.

Not sure what year Forrester.......
But if the Installer wanted, he could at least get Driver Door to Unlock with a Relay, but you would have to probably pay more.........
Usually, your FACTORY Keyless is not disturbed when adding aftermarket equipment
Tell the to put an acuator in the drivers door to get the keless to work, seems the person doing the install is not knowledgable wit subaru

If the rig has power door locks....no actuator is needed
They only thing you CANNOT control is the "factory security"
