There is a way to put the theft system in a loop. This is a cool trick I learned for anyone who would like to use it. Take ANY resistor that is not close to the factory ignition switch resistance. cut the yellow passlock wire and attempt to start the vehicle. this will trigger the theft system to lock out for 15 minutes and the security light to blink. MAKE SURE THE SECURITY LIGHT BLINKS AFTER ATTEMPT. turn off the ignition and loop the chosen resistor from the computer side of the yellow wire to the black passlock wire ( you can cut this wire also) do not connect the key side of the yellow or black to anything, just tape off. now, turn the ignition key on, not to crank and the security light will blink. leave ign on until security light goes solid or goes out. then shut the key off, wait 10 seconds and start the vehicle. The pcm will have learned the new resistor after one cycle, unlike every other gm vehicle that takes three cycles and almost an hour to do. There is a big problem with gm ignition switches located in the dash, sometimes the lock cylinder itself will mechanically malfunction requiring the vehicle be towed to nearest dealer for replacement. If you need a new igniton switch, go to junkyard and get one out of anything 03 and newer.
