I recently bought a 1998 Dodge Ram truck and was told it had an alarm on it. All I found is a small plug in module of sorts. When I pull out this keychain looking chip the truck will not start. All I can see is "Prolock" with a (18R) on the chip thingy. Help! What is this and what all is it capable of. If anyone can help please do. Thanks in advance! Also how would I install another alarm with keyless entry with the reverse polarity on the locking information I got from the vehicle info database. The alarm I have is a Prestige APS 15 KB. How would I install this on my Dodge truck?

Prolock is a dealer install Immobilizer. Remove it and install the alarm system with starter kill.

You don't need to know because most of the wires are black. It's just a single point starter kill.

Is there any info on taking it out as far as the wires nd what they are for? Does anyone know how to wire up the locks on the APS-15kb prestige alarm to this dodge truck?

The Dodge truck uses a 5 wire + system. POWER LOCK----------------ORANGE / purple |5wi| driver door harness POWER UNLOCK------------pink/purple |5wi| driver door harness Keyless models use positive trigger for lock, and 5-wire for unlock. Can also find wires at the central timer module to the right side of the steering column, lock is ORANGE / green, unlock is pink/green. Use the below information ONLY if you DO NOT have the keyless entry from the factory. - Attach the APS RED wire ( - UNLOCK ) to 86 of first relay in the above link
- Attach the APS GREEN wire ( - LOCK ) to 85 of the second relay in the above link

So all I have to do is connect the lock wire off the alarm to the ORANGE / purple and the unlock wire to the pink/purple and that is it. I didn't understand the five wire set-up. Please let me know if I am right or wrong. Thanks for the info Jeff!

I was told it does, but the owner before me kept the remotes. They will try to get them back so I can use them but if I hook up the aps-15kb it will lock and unlock for me. Thanks in advance!
