’03 Toyota Matrix Remote Start Probs

Hi all, I need help with my Matrix , it came with a Clifford RS3 alarm installed, and when you remote start it, it triggers the alarm. i sat in the car and armed it, then hit remote start, the dash lights come on and also the door ajar light, then the alarm goes off. I went and checked all the settings in the 3 menus and still nothing, last resort is to go back in the dash and check wiring. Funny thing is that when it originally used the wires in the dome light control, you could turn off the dome lights and it would start no problems, but that effectively kills the door triggers, so i went on the forums and found another wire that goes to ground when the door pin is depressed. I think it has to do with one of the wires going to ground when the remote start is activated which in turn sets off the door triggers? thanks in advance

Key sence at the column blue/black. This wire needs to get a NEG(-) ground while running signal, during remote start, to keep the alarm from triggering. Otherwise youll need to unlock the doors to R/S

I doubt a Matrix has a factory alarm. Is the alarm that goes off a siren or a horn honking?

If the vehicle has a separate remote starter from the Clifford alarm, you will need to add relays to open the shock sensor trigger or triggers during remote start and to interupt the alarm's ignition input. The alarm is likely sounding because the shock sensor is being activated. If it is a dual zone sensor you need to use relays to open both the warning trigger and the full alarm trigger. The ignition feed to the alarm will also need to be opened to allow the Clifford remotes to work when running under remote start.

Thanks KarTune Man this means I can use the RS3's factory disarm output to send ground to keysense while remote starting. And Mike M2 it has factory alarm, but I bought it used with the RS3 already installed. Which brings me to another question, does it make sense to integrate the RS3 into the factory alarm system? I noticed there are a lot of other inputs that weren't used that refered to the factory alarm. Thanks again the info.

Ok, so is it a horn or a siren going off? The Matrix may have an immobilizer and it may have a dealer installed alarm, but they just didn't offer a factory alarm in the Matrix in 03. It may even have factory keyless, and even a security  light on the dash for the immobilizer system. If it is a horn sounding, Kartune is right you need to hookup the keysense wire to disarm the dealer alarm. If it's a siren, it should bypass the shock for start. If it is the siren going off, you should be able to read LED flashes to determine what is setting it off.

Ok Mike M2 I understand you now, you are right it has factory keyless with security light and panic button, but the dealer had this trade in which already had the Clifford installed. So it's the Clifford's siren which is going off, triggered as KarTune Man said by the keysense when remote started.

That's not supposed to happen. You should be able to read the flashes on the LED after it sounds to determine if it is the shock or something else setting it off. If it's the shock, you may need to add a relay to bypass it when it starts.

Ok, i reread your first post. You seem to have already narrowed it down to the door trigger setting it off. Where do you have it hook up? I usually use the RED / white on the back of the dashlights roller switch just above the pocket. This will grab all 3 doors...

That's where it was originally, but I found that when you turn the dome light switch "off", you effectively kill the door trigger input, also i think it has a delay with the courtesy lights, so I read another post with someone using a GREEN/ YELLOW? on driver side kick panel, and i tested it and gave me instant trigger, as with the "door ajar" icon on the dash. but it did not solve the original problem, but I used to can remote start the car with out it triggering the alarm by just leaving the switch off, but then you know the downside to that. When warmer weather permits, i'm prolly gonna tear down the entire thing and do it over, but as it's winter need remote start. Thanks!

Strange. The RED / white on the back of the switch shouldn't turn off the door triggers when you turn the switch off, the RED / black will. Well one sure fire way to do it would be to get individual door pin switch wires and diode isolate...
