i got some Gordon doorlock actuators off ebay for like 6 bux.. a whole kits..wit the little brain/relay and all the wiring... im actually using them for a small project... im curious what makes the little motor inside come back to a resting point? if i apply 12 v to the lock it extends out then when i take it off it comes back to rest..at the retracted point.... is it ok to keep a constant 12v to the actuator for a long period of time? my first assumption is itll burn out... wondering if theres a built in circuit (off of hte little brain.. im just using the leads off of the actuator and hitting it to a 12v source to test it... i havnt ran the brain with it yet) that makes it rest..but thatll require a source..it comes back to resting possitin when the power is off..so its gotta be a mechanical .. maybe a spring? any help would be cool..thanks guys

When you attach it to something stationary it will not spring back.

There is a chance it will spring back if it is a 5-wire actuator- these have the built in switches that trigger activation- for all other actuators when only one is moved by force of the lock- as in when a key is inserted, or if the lock is manually moved inside the car.- actually quite handy- there is no need to add an electric switch inside the car. 2 wire actuators will stay put- and are what you are looking for.. Usually a four door actustor kit has two 5-wire, and two 2-wire actuators in it......

i have one 5 wire actuator...the other 3 are 2 wire ones... i think im only gonna use the 2 wire ones..

do not apply 12v for extended periods, they will burn
