hey guys, the data sheets on the 2005 toyota sienna say to go behind the glove box for the tach connection. does anyone know if this is correct, or can you use an injector wire in the engine compartement. I am just not sure how hard it will be to get behind, or remove the glove box. has anyone done one of these vehicles recently. any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

use injector wire make sure that you dont use the same color as your IGN wire. its the wire that changes color on every injector.

You can get a good tach on the motor. The Sienna uses separate coils for each cylinder, it's always the 3rd wire from the left. Remove the plastic cover and they are easily in reach...

Who wants to fish wires under the hood if you don't have to?

Open BOTH glove boxes, then reach into the upper one with your hand, grab it, and pull it out----it's just clips holding it in.

Then, reach in there and down to the ECM----it is behind the lower glove box but you can easily see it----the tachometer wire is in the top plug. If you unclip the plug, you can pull it straight and there's enough slack to work.

Also, there is a large bundle of wires high up above the gas pedal, and tach is in there. But it is awkward because you have to work on your back, and there are many BLACK/ orange wires in there and you would have to test a lot of them to find the right one. That is how I usually get the tach wire on Siennas, though.

My FAT hands make it hard for me to go thru the Glove box, but I do.......I also use a Mirror to see the Plug

Who wants to run wires across the dash? Running into the engine compartment is easy, ther's a rubber nipple on the big grommet behind the fuse box. Cut off the nipple and shove the wire in the hole. There you go, your already in the engine compartment....

i agree with mike m2, you usually have to go into the engine compartement for a hood pin anyway. i also find this, easier than going across the vehicle.

Thanks to all of you for the replies
