Subject: Problems with Compustar Remote Start
Date Posted: January 15, 2006 at 11:28 AM

I have a compustar 2W900FM Alarm installed on my manual transmission car. A while back the remote start stoped working. I sent the brain back and got a new replacement unit. I connected it and it worked great.

My battery died and I had the car jump started with a battery pack. Now the remote start won't work again. Same symptoms as before:

1. The shutdown proces works fine and it activates the alarm normally.

2. When I press the remote start button, it turns the ignition on but it does not crank the engine.

3. There is no blinkin error code. All accesories stay on and it shuts off if i push the brake like it normally would.

Is there a way to master reset the unit? maybe I need reprogram it? I tried the RPM button and it didn't do anything. I can't belive I'm going to need a new unit everytime I jumpstart the car!

Thank you!

when you try to remote start the vehical, and the ignition comes on then goes off the module should flash a code, so watch the park lights and count how many times it blinks.

been a while since i installed compustar but if it dosen't have the correct tack it won't start...  I think.  Also check the fuses if when you jumped it it might have blown one 30 amp fuse and not both so it would still kick in but not start.

Starter kill relay is wired backwards, Black stripe goes to the key.

It used to work fine, the wires were not touched at all. I really don't think it has anything to do with the wireing

Missed that part sorry... There are three fuses on the main harness cbout three inches from the main unit. There are two green 30amp fuses that you may need to replace.

Boost, all you have to do is reset the unit...

Here's how:

Ignition on and off 5 times really fast, then press lock on each transmitter.  Works for me every time.

I guess it's not the fuses since i never replaced those the first time I replaced the brain and it worked fine. It must be somthing with the brain itself since it's the second time it happens.

yes, it's not a problem with the remote. The remote works fine. Is there a way to master reset the brain?

here is another symptom, It now auto locks/unlocks the doors with the e-brake. It never did that before!
ebrake down locks the door, ebrake up unlocks the doors.

thanks a bunch!

How do you guess it is not the fuses???? If it is powering up ignition, parklights, etc. upon remote start, but does not crank.... it could very well be the fuse for the starter output of the unit. Check it.

You will need to probably reprogram the unit for the features that you want. The install manual or the person that installed it will have this information for you. It is probably in default programming.

You may also need to learn tach.... start the car with the key, then press the programming switch on the side of the unit.

compustar tech support had given me a hard time before becuase i wasn't a dealer but this time they helped me.

Here is the solution:
press btn 1 and 2 at the same time for two secs. Then press button 3 for three times.

I had to do that twice and now it works fine!
they said it's something about the disel setting.

THanks for all the suggestions!
